Cascade, Iowa family honors their angel baby through family portraits

“You are rooted deep within my soul. A part of me forever. In the deepest parts of my heart, there you are.”

Amanda Schlemme reached out to me a few months back and all she wanted for her March birthday was to do a family portrait session and to honor her daughter, Emma, who was born into heaven this past October. I had worked with Amanda before on another project and let me tell you she is one of the most beautiful women I’ve met! She is strong, fearless and has a huge heart!

When the Schlemme family came in for their session, I wasn’t surprised at how fun they were to photograph with working with their mom last year. The adorable boys, with their red hair and blue eyes…just like my daughter, are so funny! They joked with each other constantly, but you could tell they had each other’s backs if things got to hairy. They are also huge sports fans and really hope the Hawks win the NCAA tournament. I broke the news to them that I was a huge Iowa State fan, but they were really cool about it.

Below are few sneak peaks of this session…
Nestled inside the wooden heart bowl you will find a gold heart urn that carries Emma’s ashes and her tiny little footprint and handprints. All the white butterflies, or angels, are surrounding the one pink butterfly as her spirit transcends to heaven.
